Are we home yet, Mom?
March 21-22

Ok, so now we are really on our way home....or so I thought. Arrived in Ely, NV just in time for a major storm. Boondocked the first night in a motel parking lot north of town and prayed that my trailer would not blow away during a horrendous thunder storm with lightning that lit up the sky and winds in excess of 50 mph.
Next day, forecast was no better so opted to get a spot in the local RV/Casino campground. Stayed at the Prospectors in Ely for $14.95 + tx and enjoyed full hookups, free wi-fi, free margaritas, a nice dinner, swim in the pool, soaked in the jacuzzi spa, but skipped the fitness room and won a couple bucks in the casino. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. All in all, it was worth the price to be civilized for a change.
Next morning, 22 degrees, snow on the ground, high winds predicted and I'm ready to roll anyway.
Got home to Idaho about 4 pm after about 5 plus hours of driving in sustained winds of 30-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. It was kind of like riding a bucking horse.......you just hang on and hope for the best!
OK, what the heck is this white stuff????

OK, now I know why there is a cattle guard between the hot springs and the BLM land. These gals came down out of the hills to join us for the evening. My dogs thought they were at home.

Spent the night boondocking on the BLM next to the hot springs. Got to get serious now and head for home.

Katherine's Landing at Lake Mohave

Boy is this farmer lost!

These carp were pretty friendly, obviously must be getting fed by the tourists
March 16-19th

Enjoyed the peace and tranquility of Katherine's Landing at Lake Mohave, AZ for four really hot days up to 92 degrees.
And who should I find camped right next door to me.......another WIN of course
Claudia and her faithful companion Sadie

Not a bad spot for $5 a day
Yep, I finally learned to back my trailer into this tight spot all by myself

Camp site #46 at Lake Havasu State Park at Windsor Beach

Saturday, March 14, 2009

March 9-15th

Spent another great week at Windsor Beach State Park at Lake Havasu, Arizona. It is still one of my favorite places to camp. The hosts all know me and the dogs by first name now since we've been here so many times in the past. May even apply for a host job myself when I get tired of towing the trailer all over all Winter. I'm sure the waiting list is long, but you never know.

Weather has been absolutely beautiful and couldn't ask for more. Got my same old parking space #46 and the trees are getting quite large at the campsite and give me nice shade in the afternoons.
Spring Break will be starting next week, so will be getting out of here pronto as it will be the end of the peace and quiet we have enjoyed this week.
Full moon setting on another beautiful day at Lake Havasu

Wait a minute...whose bed is this???
My well behaved hiking companions, Trucker and Chewy

Wow, the 2 mile hike at Windsor State Park was worth it!

Stopped at the Blue Water Casino in Parker for the weekend and took in some movies, a little night life and eating, hiking and did I mention eating.

Back to Quartzsite to rest up from the last two weeks and start on the journey north. We experienced some unusually hot weather in the high 80's and couldn't believe it was still snowing in Idaho at home.
Ahhh.....the old Quartzsite homestead once again

I know that mouse went down that hole somewhere!

My custom campfire pit at Quartzsite. Really didn't need one since it was still short's weather.

Found an old 57 T-Bird like I used to own at the Bouse Fireman's Picnic and Classic Car Show

Even the famous Blue's Brothers were there

February 13-22, 2009

Casa Grande Dance Rally, where there were daily dance lessons, nightly parties and a great talent show.
The theme was Route 66 and was hosted by the untiring efforts of Patty Coon and Donna Lee with the help of many volunteers.

Here I got to camp at beautiful Martinez Lake with about a dozen guys and I was the ONLY GAL. You would think, “how lucky is she?”, until you find out that I was down with the crud almost the whole time. So........it became more of a WIN's male bonding gathering. I did get to participate in one of the dances at the Cantina the last day we were there and got plenty of dances in considering the lack of gals available. Oh well......better luck next year.

January 16, 2009

Two weeks were spent here with approximately 160 WIN's at the Annual Quartzsite gathering with plenty of dancing, 4-wheeling, hiking and more going on. Ron and Randy even built us a “Desert Dance Floor” hauling in loads of sand and covering it with artificial turf and tarps. It worked well and was enjoyed by the masses. Nothing like dancing under the stars in the middle of Winter. Thanks guys for your ingenuity.

We also enjoyed a “potato bake” that Patty Coon organized and another “Ice Cream Social” where we invited all local singles as well as WIN's to attend. It was enjoyed by all.

February 2-5, 2009

Gila Bend Elk's was our next campsite for a few days, where a couple of the fellows got sworn in as new Elk brothers and I ordered a new leg for my wireless dish tripod at RV Sat Link, that had crashed in a windstorm. It was nice to just kick back and rest following the past couple weeks of activities.

Stayed this week at the Harrah's Ak Chin Casino and sat out a couple of good rainy days. A few of my fellow WIN friends surprised me by showing up for a special birthday dinner for me. Carolyn, Peter and Sam drove up from the WIN gathering at Aho and John came all the way (in one day) to celebrate with me from his business visit to California. It was so great to see them all again.

where I won a whole $10. Big time gambler that I am.

Too bad I couldn't take a dip in their great pool with swim up bar. Afraid that was reserved for paying guests.
